In an empire state of mind...

You can count me among those who love New York City.   The city manages to seductively invoke the feeling of endless possibilities.  My first trip to NYC was so boldly surreal I will never forget it.   From that first moment of stepping into the lobby of the cool little Roger Smith Hotel in Manhattan, the city  invited me in and provided the full out royal treatment while taking in MOMA, the Met Museum, a game at Yankee Stadium, wonderful noshes at every turn, shopping in Tribeca and SoHo, dancing at SOB's, then poetry in the Village followed by late night Jazz at Bradley's.  Everywhere it was 1/2 price at the door, gracious cab drivers (really!), and the table right down front.  It was inexplicable.  The universe was smiling so I rolled with it.  I recall thinking, "I'll bet this is what it's like to be a diva".

Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' recent outstanding (magnificent actually)  performance at the AMA's brought back memories of that trip and put me in an 'Empire State of Mind'.   Join me, won't you?

Fantastic video! Makes me want to go running back to NY. It's great to hear you were treated like a princess while there. I've always been a big fan of NYC too.

Thanks for the comment! Love the Tattered Chic skirt by Bernie Dinwiddie that you blogged about recently. Indianapolis isn't far from Cincinnati. The next time I'm there, I will definitely stop in.
